Supervision for the helping professions |
|
Supervision provides a forum for reflection, accountability and learning from doing. Its aim is to further excellent work and quality practice. Supervisors support and challenge supervisees to move beyond their current competencies into future possibilities. Supervision is individualised (or personalised) learning in that it focuses on the work of the supervisee; the learning style of the supervisee and customises the relationship and environment to suit the development of the practitioner. Everyone wins. The ultimate benefit is for the client to receive the best possible service; the intermediary benefit is the growth and learning of supervisees, the immediate benefit is the ethical and professional monitoring of the work itself.
CPD Programme for Advanced Supervision skills
To support the provision of supervision services across the helping professions, we have developed a CPD Programme of Supervision training modules. Each module is standalone and can be delivered as a bespoke in- house training event for 8 or more participants.
The introductory module ''Becoming an Effective Supervisor' is available as an open course see below, but due to pressure of work the remaining modules can only be accessed through in-house training. Please let us know if you are interested in joining a module as we can often arrange for individuals to join an in-house course.

Module one provides the understanding and professional tools for those in the helping professions including psychologists to move into the Supervision arena.
The course engages all delegates in practical preparation for supervision, considering best practise in such critical areas as the use of evaluation and feedback and their role as learning facilitators.
The course is hugely popular with delegates giving very positive feedback. |
Module Two , building on the models and concepts from Module one, moves the participants into a heightened level of Supervision practise.
The course uses the Experiential learning model as it core thread, deepening and honing the skills of learners to provide advanced facilitation which will enable supervisee to achieve a very high quality of professional reflection. Wilburs Integral model is introduced as a holistic overview . |
Supervision is a key requirement for all in the helping professions.
